Okay, so we might be getting to that point already where I have more motivation to be doing other things rather than writing blog posts & such. But that’s not a problem for me! This is the beginning of my Variatarium posts on this site, detailing a bunch of stuff I did this week. One of these might appear from time to time when I have just had a lot of things going on.

So! Without much further ado, how about getting this post going?

I wanna run that deer over with my car

The deer animation clipped with a scene from The Blues Brothers (1980)

So there’s this running joke in a group of people I’ve been talking to recently which involves a 3D model of a deer. This model gets destroyed. A lot. It gets cut up into bits and put in a stew, tied up and shoved into the back of an Iveco Daily, thrown down cliffs, and now, being hit by my car. This crude animation test of mine with no textures or really anything there is probably going to be used in a rotoscope bit based around the audio of that one Family Guy Hummer clip.

Still, heavily unfinished! Working towards more of the character animation in a bit.

Up voicing my void right now

If you haven’t heard of Voices of the Void, check it out if you want. It’s so good I’m convinced it has to be mining bitcoin or something on my computer while it’s running because there’s just no way a game this good is free for this long during development. It’s main gameplay loop of collecting and filtering signals really rings with me and my random radio bullshit of receiving beacons and trying to get data from them by pushing the audio through different decoding processes. I think it’s really neat, but in my current save there isn’t much to point at other than me getting the base cleaned and trying (and failing) to assemble the bigger robot.

A series of images in no particular sequence
And finally, dual tones

A sample of quick DTMF tones dialing a fake number anonymously (*67 555-262-9057)

Been working with a bit of dual-tones lately in order to include an in-game phone mechanic for Valentine, NY. Also I just wanted to do it. If you’re interested at all in telephony or have literally ever heard an older phone speed-dial on speakerphone I recommend reading this section of wikipedia. Eye opening. Life changing. Rattled me to my core.

Out

But really that’s all I’ve been doing this week. I’ll get a wee bit more done in the next week hopefully. I’ll be seeing y’all then!
